    Oakland Voices alumna Kristal Raheem (2021) recently joined YouthBeat, an Oakland-based digital media arts and media literacy training program for Oakland youth. Raheem, a graduate of Oakland public schools, seeks to empower Oakland youth as future storytellers. As YouthBeat’s development manager, she’s responsible for building donor relationships and leading fundraising campaigns for the organization.

    The recalls of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price appear to be successful. As on Wednesday night, over 65% of ballots counted so far, in both elections, favor the recalls. Each official has only been in office since the November 2022 election. So far, less than a quarter of ballots have been counted for all registered voters in Alameda County. As county registrars office updates election results, we’ll provide updates.
