We have just returned from a visit to Rwanda where several members of the Joint Committee on Human Rights spent five days establishing, as far as we could, whether migrants relocated to Rwanda would have their rights protected. We were all deeply impressed by the warm welcome we received. We had a packed programme, ranging from meetings with Rwandan ministers and parliamentarians to lawyers and judges, refugees and LGBT organisations.

The education, well-being, and safeguarding of children should not be a controversial subject. The vast majority of parents entrust schools to look after, protect and educate their children. The vast majority of parents want their children to receive an age-appropriate balanced presentation of views, to encourage their development and analytical thinking.

The UK and U.S. Governments have now formalized the UK-U.S. Data Bridge. The U.S. Attorney General designated the UK as a “qualifying state” for the purposes of the Executive Order 14086 on September 18, 2023, and the UK regulations implementing the Data Bridge are scheduled to take effect on October 12, 2023.
