Strings of fairy lights at each table and three large screens projecting “欢迎” — “welcome” in Chinese — illuminated the Emory Student Center’s multipurpose rooms at Chinese Culture Night (CCN) on Nov. 16. A long line of students entered the venue, chatting as they picked up refreshments and painted traditional Chinese fans. Emory University’s Chinese Undergraduate Student Organization (CUSO) and Emory Chinese Student Association (CSA) hosted the annual event.

Anxious Georgians gathered together on Nov. 5 to watch the 2024 election unfold. Emory University held watch parties at Harland Cinema and at Oxford College and the Oxford Votes Initiative and Oxford Young Democrats hosted separate watch parties in the Phi Gamma Hall and the Oxford Student Center Greer Forum, respectively. The Georgia Democratic and Republican Parties hosted watch parties attended by legislators, political operatives and foreign leaders.

Rockdale County commissioners launched a federal class-action lawsuit against BioLab and its parent company, KIK Consumer Products, for damages to local citizens and companies. The lawsuit, which commissioners filed on Oct. 29, came a month after a chemical fire erupted at the BioLab facility in Conyers, Ga, about six miles from Oxford College.
