LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - As Lake County Public Safety Director Kilbury drove our News 6 team through Tavares, he said an already busy fire season could get even busier with the current drought conditions. "It has slowly been crescendoing up," said Kilbury. "Yesterday, there was a pretty significant brush fire in the city of Groveland that had an escalation of several stations to help on that."Kilbury said that the brush fire was first reported at 50 acres and was growing in several directions.

Senate Bill 1118 and its companion bill in the House both received backlash from local government officials and Central Florida residents who opposed legislation that would essentially undo our rural boundaries and restrict local development control.
