WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - This week’s pet of the week from Emily’s Legacy Pet Rescue is a sweet dog named Patter. Patter is about four years old, and is great with kids, families and other dogs. Emily’s Legacy will be at Petco on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. with pets available for adoption. The cost to adopt a dog is $140, and cats are $125. Emily’s Legacy also has T-shirts for sale. CLAY COUNTY, Texas (KAUZ) - Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez told a News Channel 6 crew on the scene of U.S. 287 near Butler Road that first responders received a call around 3:30 p.m. about a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Gutierrez said preliminary investigations indicated that a vehicle traveling northbound on 287 experienced mechanical issues and pulled over to the side of the road, following which the driver exited the vehicle.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Wichita Falls Animal Services has now confirmed four total positive rabies cases in city limits. All four of the cases have been skunks. Animal Services asked residents not to interact with unfamiliar animals that our roaming, whether wild or domestic. The organization also noted that rabies is deadly after symptoms begin. Anyone with concerns about an animal, or who feels they may been bitten by an infected animal, can call (940) 761-7824. Copyright 2025 KAUZ.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Police on the scene of the intersection of Cole Street and Carrigan Avenue said they captured a man suspected of perpetrating a shooting at Love’s Travel Stop after a high-speed chase. Police said they spotted Jose Perez, who is suspected in the Love’s shooting, leaving his residence and attempted a traffic stop. Perez allegedly did not pull over, prompting a lengthy chase.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - A team of MSU students competed this year in NASA’s prestigious SUITS challenge, and the Mustangs brought home the Pay It Forward award for community outreach from the competition. The MSU squad - know as Team Selene - received the award for both technical and outreach achievements. The broader parameters for the event challenge students to design interfaces for future space suits.
