COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Each year, the Eta Aquariid meteor shower peaks in early May. Originating from Halley’s Comet, these meteors are known for their speed, where they go as fast as 40.7 miles per second while entering Earth’s atmosphere. These fast-moving meteors leave “trains”, which are piles of space debris that get left behind. Tonight and Tuesday morning are its peak, with up to 10-15 meteors per hour being visible. To view any of these meteors, you’ll need to escape city or street lights.
