More than 10,000 customers lost power as gusty winds blew across Maine on Easter Sunday afternoon, with most of them in Penobscot, Aroostook, Hancock and Washington counties. As of 3:35 p.m., Versant Power reported a total of 9,931 statewide outages, and Central Maine Power reported another 2,644. “We are monitoring gusty winds through today,” CMP said on Facebook.
Mainer charged with attempted murder after doing burnout near home

A southern Maine man was charged with attempted murder Saturday after he allegedly fired a handgun during an argument with another person. Steven Henry, 57, of Limerick got into the altercation after allegedly doing a burnout in his pickup truck near the home of the other person, who lives on Prokey Drive, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. The owner of the Limerick home then came out to talk with him, and it turned into an argument.
ICE arrests Chinese man charged with midcoast sex trafficking

Immigration officials have started removal proceedings for a Chinese citizen who was recently charged with sex trafficking in the midcoast. Tian Tao, 54, was arrested on the sex trafficking charges on Feb. 20 by Rockland police and officers from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, according to ICE. On March 6, ICE announced that Tao faces removal to China. He first entered the U.S. legally in 2016, but violated the terms of his admission, ICE said.

(AP) — Freshman Kon Knueppel scored 17 points to help No. 2 Duke beat rival North Carolina 82-69 on Saturday night and clinch the outright Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title. Cooper Flagg added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists despite first-half foul trouble for the Blue Devils (28-3, 19-1).
Crash closes 1 lane on Airline Road in Clifton

The crash was reported at around 8:20 p.m. The road is also referred to as Route 9. More information about the crash was not immediately available.
Award offered for information on deer illegally shot in Swanville

A private organization working with the Maine Warden Service is offering a $3,000 reward for information on the illegal shooting and wounding of a deer in Swanville. The injured deer ultimately had to be euthanized after it was found and reported to the Maine Warden Service at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4. The animal was found off Oak Hill Road.
Human remains found in Lewiston

Police are investigating human remains that were found Saturday afternoon in Lewiston. “Initial findings indicate that the remains have been there for an extended period of time,” according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. “There is no danger to the public.”The remains were found in Garcelton Bog at the end of Russell Street by a nearby resident, who contacted authorities.
Boy rescued after falling through ice in Ellsworth

Ellsworth firefighters rescued a boy who fell through the ice on Graham Lake in Ellsworth on Sunday afternoon, according to WMTW. The boy, along with three other kids, had run away from a group home when they crossed a marsh on the lake, the Maine Warden Service told the station. At that point, three of the kids fell through the ice.
