Immigration officials have started removal proceedings for a Chinese citizen who was recently charged with sex trafficking in the midcoast. Tian Tao, 54, was arrested on the sex trafficking charges on Feb. 20 by Rockland police and officers from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, according to ICE. On March 6, ICE announced that Tao faces removal to China. He first entered the U.S. legally in 2016, but violated the terms of his admission, ICE said.

The crash was reported at around 8:20 p.m. The road is also referred to as Route 9. More information about the crash was not immediately available.

A private organization working with the Maine Warden Service is offering a $3,000 reward for information on the illegal shooting and wounding of a deer in Swanville. The injured deer ultimately had to be euthanized after it was found and reported to the Maine Warden Service at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4. The animal was found off Oak Hill Road.

Police are investigating human remains that were found Saturday afternoon in Lewiston. “Initial findings indicate that the remains have been there for an extended period of time,” according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. “There is no danger to the public.”The remains were found in Garcelton Bog at the end of Russell Street by a nearby resident, who contacted authorities.
