On November 11, 2024, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) published a consultation on proposed revisions to the UK Stewardship Code 2020 (the Code). The FRC recently published a consultation on proposed revisions to the UK Stewardship Code 2020. In our opinion the consultation represents as refreshingly logical, balanced and pragmatic approach to stewardship reporting. This approach, if successfully adopted, will underpin constructive engagement between companies and shareholders.

Today saw the publication by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of its revised corporate governance code (the Code). Whilst the updated Code contains a limited set of targeted changes, as opposed to a broader wholesale review, the significance of the changes and the accompanying commentary should not be underestimated. This bulletin comments on three aspects of the changes: Reinforcement of the “comply or explain” nature of the Code.
