It seems as if the primary contests for New Jersey governor have been going on forever. One Democratic candidate, teacher union leader Sean Spiller, began stuffing mailboxes with flyers as early as September. Republican Jack Ciattarelli jumped into the race in April 2024 — although, it could be argued, he’s been running since the day after he narrowly lost to Gov. Phil Murphy in 2021.
