    WASHINGTON (WV News) — A recently published report from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission found that the Mountain Valley Pipeline played a “crucial role” in helping keep the lights on as arctic weather impacted the eastern United States earlier this year. The pipeline reached its full capacity of 2 billion cubic feet per day for the first time in January, just as the electrical grid powering much of the eastern region was being tested by increased demand during the brutal cold.

Residents can cast their ballots early at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through until Saturday.     WHEELING (WV News) — A Clarksburg labor union is among four organizations that have agreed to settle allegations they violated the False Claims Act by applying for and obtaining loans under the Paycheck Protection Program, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of West Virginia. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 596 (IBEW Local 596), a labor organization in Clarksburg, agreed to pay $269,995.83 to resolve the allegations.

    LAS VEGAS (WV News) — Sen. Jim Justice, R-W.Va., wants average West Virginians to use cryptocurrencies to buy their groceries. Justice, along with his English bulldog Babydog, recently attended the Bitcoin 2025 Conference and spoke in favor of the use of Bitcoin for everyday purchases. “If we get to a time where Toby and Edith are using Bitcoin at Walmart,” Justice said, referring to his stand-in characters for prototypical West Virginians.

    BECKLEY (WV News) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey held another ceremonial bill signing event Thursday at a Beckley church for three pieces of legislation passed during the West Virginia Legislature’s 2025 session. The governor signed Senate Bill 537, which supports the West Virginia Mothers and Babies Pregnancy Support Program; House Bill 2123, which increases criminal penalties for child abuse; and House Bill 2871, which amends state code related to the crime of negligent homicide.
