Additionally, it features many of our affiliated publications in one convenient location: The Exponent Telegram, Garrett Republican, Preston News & Journal, Fairmont News, Weston Democrat, Bridgeport News, NCWV Life, and State Journal. Previously known as Clarksburg Publishing Company, NCWV Media publishes The Exponent Telegram along with several weekly publications. The company also operates a commercial printing division that produces various regional and state weekly newspapers. The roots of Clarksburg Publishing Co. trace back to 1927, but the history of the Telegram goes even further, having started as a weekly in 1861 and transitioning to daily publication in 1902. The Exponent began its journey under a different name in 1910. Virgil Highland, one of the owners of The Telegram, played a pivotal role in the merger of the newspaper companies in 1927 and became the president. This marked the beginning of a long legacy of Highland family leadership. After Virgil passed away in 1930, his brother, Cecil B. Highland, took over. Following Cecil's death in 1957, his son, Cecil B. Highland Jr., became the new president. Since then, the company has experienced significant growth and is now recognized as the fastest-growing media organization in West Virginia, with numerous print and digital publications serving the state. NCWV Media continues to expand as a dynamic digital media entity and is the parent company of Clarksburg Publishing Company.
