Hamish’s belated reappearance was worth the wait as the popular William Haggas-trained nine-year-old landed the Listed Tapster Stakes. Tom Marquand's mount had not been seen since winning a race at the same level at the Curragh last November, but he defied that seventh-month absence to hold off Military Academy by a neck. “He was pretty naughty at the start but he's been crying out for a race for a long time,” assistant trainer Maureen Haggas told Racing TV.
