1 Introduction Nearshore wind fields are anticipated to exhibit large spatial variations due to ocean-land surface roughness and temperature differences. Here, the nearshore wind field is defined as the region of significant spatial modification due to the influence of the coastal land boundary for which the cross-shore response and seaward extent are mostly unknown.
