1 Introduction B cells are regarded as central in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), based on the efficacy of B-cell depleting therapies [1], and the hallmark presence of anti-citrullinated protein autoantibodies (ACPA) and rheumatoid factor (RF) in about two-thirds of RA patients. The autoantibody-positive group, referred to as seropositive, is characterized by a more severe disease course, indicating a pathogenic role for autoreactive B cells in RA.
