A journalist was "mistakenly" told by police weeks before her death that she was not entitled to know if her former partner had any history of domestic abuse, an inquest has heard. Granada Reports news editor Teresa McMahon was found dead at her flat in Salford in August 2021, not long after she had reported to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) that she had had her fingers and potentially one of her ribs broken.

A crisis-hit NHS trust has frozen recruitment of all non-clinical staff plus some senior medical roles after running up a deficit of £128m. University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has said it will not reduce its services, or expect staff to work harder but needs “to take urgent short term action to prevent our financial situation getting worse”.

Um homem no Reino Unido descobriu que uma bolsa de coleta médica foi deixada dentro de seu estômago após uma cirurgia de hérnia. O cirurgião que realizou o procedimento no Royal Sussex County Hospital, na cidade de Brighton, em 2016, também deixou dentro do estômago parte do intestino de Tom Hadrys que havia sido cortado durante a operação. De acordo com um relatório de incidente hospitalar visto pela BBC, o cirurgião percebeu seus erros enquanto voltava do trabalho para casa.
