Kyle Shaw's "persistent campaign" saw him send abusive messages and a "menacing" threat to Miss Ballas as well as her friends and colleagues. A mum has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her child, who was found in a woodland close to a theme park more than a quarter of a century ago. Joanne Sharkey, 55, of Liverpool, denied murdering her baby boy, whose remains were discovered close to the Gulliver's World theme park in Warrington, Cheshire, on 14 March 1998.

Three hospitals in Merseyside have been affected by a single cyber attack. Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust said itself, the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital had been affected by the incident on Thursday. The hospital warned the hackers could release the data before it had had time to investigate. It added it was working with the National Crime Agency (NCA) to try to make sure systems were now secure.

An inquest will consider whether a mother and four of her children who died following an arson attack at their home were failed by the authorities. A December 2017 blaze in Salford claimed the lives of 15-year-old Demi Pearson, her eight-year-old brother Brandon, and her sisters Lacie and Lia, who were aged seven and three respectively. The children's mother Michelle Pearson suffered 68% burns in the petrol bomb attack and died 20 months later, aged 37.
