TULSA, O.K.- Kyle Larson hasn’t made a proper attempt at the Chili Bowl since 2022 and with that, neither has Paul Silva. Larson made a last-ditch effort to make the race back in 2024, but that effort was made with Keith Kunz Motorsports, the place that helped Larson get his start in the NASCAR world. The Silva-Larson duo is well regarded in the dirt racing world, with the anomaly of the sport’s most intriguing mind turning the wrenches and one of the best behind the wheel.

For Corey Day, Wednesday night (Jan. 16) ultimately wasn’t his day. Between an ill-handling racecar and treacherous track conditions, the 18-year old Hendrick Motorsports prospect was forced to settle for third in the Wednesday nightcap.

For the second night in the row, the Tulsa, Ok. fans were treated to an absolute banger of a feature at the Chili Bowl Nationals. But there was a difference on Tuesday night (Jan. 14). This time around, it was an underdog that stole a victory away from the top teams. With a seventh-to-first performance in the A-main, Landon Brooks secured his first Midget win at Tulsa Expo Raceway. With the win, Brooks officially guaranteed his first start in Saturday’s A-main.

Talk about starting off with a bang. The grand opening to the 39th annual Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Ok., Monday night’s (Jan. 13) prelim feature was a thriller from start to finish, kicking off the annual dirt midget showcase with another classic battle. After an action-packed evening, the nightcap came down to a fight between Kyle Larson, Shane Golobic and Cannon McIntosh.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The little team that could nearly did at the 2024 Snowball Derby. Race winner Kaden Honeycutt may have been victorious in the 57th edition of the race, but Jace Hansen and his No. 08 nearly stole the show. The Snowball Derby has long been a who’s who of names in short track racing, with storyline soften like by regular stars like Stephen Nasse, Bubba Pollard and Ty Majeski. But on occasion an underdog comes along and tries to shock the world. This year, that was Hansen.

The Grand Prix of Long Beach is officially under new ownership. Announced on Nov. 14, Penske Entertainment has acquired the GP Association of Long Beach for the 2025 event and beyond. The upcoming 2025 date marks the 50th running of the event, and the purchase keeps the event in the NTT IndyCar Series stable for years to come. “We’re incredibly proud to be the new stewards of this cherished and iconic event,” Roger Penske said in a release.

Parker Retzlaff will have a change of scenery in 2025. The 21-year-old Wisconsin native announced Nov. 14 that he will not return to Jordan Anderson Racing next season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. “As my sophomore season in the Xfinity Series comes to an end, I am announcing that I will not be returning to Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport in 2025,” Retzlaff said in a statement.

Matt McCall will not return to RFK Racing in 2024 as one of its crew chiefs, the team announced Nov. 7. McCall currently calls the shots for Brad Keselowski and the No. 6 team in the NASCAR Cup Series. “We want to thank Matt for his dedicated efforts over the last last three seasons, his role in the success we have had and we wish him well in future endeavors,” the team said in a release.

Jake Garcia has a new title to add to his resume as of Monday morning. All American 400 champion. It was far from a dominant performance from the 19-year old on Sunday. Garcia led only two laps on the day. But they were the most important two as he took home arguably the biggest Super Late Model win of his career. Garcia spent much of the day hovering around the 10th position, but came to pit road for fresh tires on a late-race caution. That ultimately proved to be the difference maker.
