Last night, the Sergeant for the North County Patrol Office was informed by the City Manager that the City Council had voted not to renew the contract. This statement, along with later conversations about how many more city council meetings the Sergeant would need to attend and the fact that deputies wouldn’t be handling certain duties anymore, gave the Sergeant the impression—based on what the City Manager said—that the enhanced police services contract was ending on June 30, 2025.

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. – A Lincoln City man accused of shooting a stranger on the street allegedly told police that he was tired of seeing drug users, according to court documents. According to the Lincoln City Police Department, early in the morning of May 19, officers responded to a report of a shooting on southwest 51st Street and southwest Ebb Avenue. Police said they arrived to find a man had been shot multiple times.

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. – A Douglas County man has been charged after allegedly accidentally shooting a child, then attempting to treat it with “toilet paper and an ice cube” to prevent getting in trouble, according to court records. The child’s mother was also charged for allegedly failing to get medical attention for her son for nearly a week, then using a metal detector to see if the bullet was still in the child’s leg.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A Eugene man is facing charges including assault after allegedly stabbing a teenager in Springfield on Wednesday night, seriously injuring him. According to court documents, at about 10 p.m. on April 16, Springfield police were called to an apartment complex on 18th Street for a report of a dispute. Court documents said officers arrived to find a 17-year-old boy had been stabbed in the chest, and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency surgery.
