The Bonelli House is a familiar landmark in downtown Kingman, known as a sort of time capsule into early 20th-century life. But, unless local residents visited on a school field trip, many have never stepped inside. Volunteers from the Mohave Museum of History and Arts offer guided tours of the home, sharing its history, and, as volunteer Walt Craig puts it, stories that are both “hysterical” and “historical.”kAmv6@C86 q@?6==:[ E96 D@? @7 2 $H:DD 72E96C 2?5 2?

In Kingman, residents can keep birds like chickens, quail, and turkeys on their property - with limitations, of course. Other birds though, including ducks, geese, and swans, are not allowed at all, no matter the size of the lot or the reason for keeping them. Earlier this month, students from the Cactus Critters 4-H Club stepped up to the podium at a Kingman City Council meeting to try to change that.

The City of Kingman is adjusting the price tag on local services after what city staff said was a long-overdue review, and a brand new fee for paying with a credit card may be next. After a public hearing on Tuesday, the City Council approved sweeping changes to the city’s comprehensive fee schedule, which covers everything from building permits to bus passes. It’s the first major update for many of these services since 2017.

The Kingman City Council will hold a trio of public hearings on Tuesday, May 20, on proposed increases to solid waste, water, and comprehensive city service fees — changes that could affect most residents and businesses in the community. The solid waste rate hearing will address the rising costs of landfill operations and waste collection services. If approved, residents would see their trash bills rise by 6.5%, increasing the average monthly residential bill from $20.37 to $21.69.
