The beautification of the Lamu King Fahd Hospital lawns has proved to be partly a nuisance after it was turned into a relaxation site by idlers and smokers. The hospital administration has complained about the irking situation as the idlers are known to make loud noises that greatly disturb the peace of patients at the facility. The King Fahd Level Four hospital situated in Lamu Island is the largest hospital in the county and attends to hundreds of patients daily.

Police in Lamu County have issued a stern warning to criminal gangs targeting and murdering Nyumba Kumi officials in the region. This comes days after the gruesome murder of Fredrick Ngugi, a Nyumba Kumi official in Malamande village in Hindi, Lamu West. Ngugi died of a single gunshot wound to the head after his home was invaded by unknown people while he slept at night. His property was also destroyed and his home was torched.

The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation has defended its delayed Sh200 million electrification project of Manda Island in Lamu, four years on. The project which commenced in 2021 and is currently 65 percent complete, had been anticipated to benefit at least 1200 households. Speaking in Lamu, REREC general manager, Power Distribution and Regional Corporation, James Muriuki said though the tender was awarded in 2019, the actual construction works commenced in 2021.
