PARIS, France — After writing about it early in the tournament, I thought it was the right time to close the loop on the talk of scheduling at Roland Garros. Now that the order of play has been released for Day 11, which is the last day on which French Open women’s and men’s singles matches are held on the same day, we have the full set of data from this year to complete a five-year sample of striking scheduling patterns here.

PARIS, France — There weren’t any major shocks in the first week of the 2025 French Open, it turned out. But despite most of the projected quarterfinalists hanging around, there was one result that floored me here as I watched it unfold on the scoreboard.

PARIS, France — After a season in which she cracked the WTA Top 100 for the first time, Hailey Baptiste found herself without a coach at the end of the season. This wasn’t unprecedented for her: she’d often traveled the tour on her own, for better and worse. “Just kind of thugging it, battling my way through matches,” Baptiste said. “Lose a match, didn't really have anyone to talk to afterwards…had to do the whole debrief process by myself.
