Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for 80% of primary liver cancer worldwide and is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death.1 Different from the changes in the disease burden of other cancers, the overall burden of liver cancer has been on the rise globally.2, 3 There are several treatments for HCC, including surgical resection, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), transhepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE), and liver transplantation (LT).
