This year News Engagement Day was celebrated on Oct. 1. The day encourages people to not only interact with news but take the time to reflect on the importance of engaging with news and staying informed. Today, information is so easily accessible. From websites to social media, apps to traditional media outlets, podcasts and more, there are a multitude of ways to find news. In such an interconnected world, news engagement is important for various reasons.

The Lady Rams golf team have come home with multiple individual and team titles this season. The team started the season at No. 5 in the Mizuno Women’s Golf Coaches Association pre-season coaches poll. The women have gone on to break a record, win two tournaments and place second at the Carey Invitational on Oct. 01. “This might be the most jelled team that I’ve had,” head women’s golf coach and associate athletic director for compliance Kevin Millikan said.

Categories: Campus celebrated the Martin University Center’s birthday at noon on Sept. 19. Student affairs set up a table outside the building next to Kay Granger Mall to hand out cupcakes, party blowers and party hats. They also provided cold drinks to offer respite from the heat.

Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio’s latest exhibition closed with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 5. The mixed media exhibition “Tangles, Knots and Binds” by American-Pakistani artist Humna Ambreen Raza expressed a personal story of the artist’s experiences with anxiety, trauma and depression. The self-portraits were created to portray the inner pain and turmoil that people experience and often don’t speak about.
