Affordable housing has been one of the issues central to the Democratic primary race for mayor of Pittsburgh. Mayor Ed Gainey is seeking to tout what his administration did to build and restore affordable homes, but his party challenger is pouring water on some of those figures. Democratic challenger Corey O'Connor did not attend Mayor Ed Gainey's affordable housing tour. He declined the invitation, saying it turned into a campaign rally. The tour went on, with five stops, including one in Oakland.

The University of Pittsburgh and Leidos on Friday announced a new, multi-million-dollar partnership. Leidos announced it is investing $10 million into the university to help fast-track the use of artificial intelligence in medicine. The announcement builds upon the $37 million Leidos has given to Pitt over the past couple of decades. It's a new chapter in a nearly 20-year relationship.

Penn State University has delayed its announcement of any possible satellite campus closures until next month. Earlier this year, Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi announced plans to decide on whether or not to close 12 of its 19 branch campuses throughout the state by the end of this semester, but that timeline is being slightly amended. Bendapudi announced Thursday that the decision on those potential satellite campus closures won't come until mid-May.
