    South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world’s largest shipbuilder, announced on Thursday that it has obtained Approval in Principle (AIP) from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Korean Register (KR) for the design safety standards of its export-type submarine for the first time in the country. The 2,300-ton HDS-2300, which received the approval, has been indigenously developed. It is 73 meters long and 8.5 meters wide. Its maximum surface speed is 20 knots or about 37 kilometers per hour.
