    Plans for a 35-metre-high telecoms tower at a Sunderland business park have been submitted to council development bosses. Sunderland City Council’s planning department has received an application for a parcel of land in the Doxford International Business Park area. The applicant, listed as ‘MBNL (EE UK Ltd and H3G UK Ltd)’, is seeking permission for a “35-metre-high lattice tower”, supporting antennas and transmission dishes, to improve mobile connectivity in the area.

    Plans for a new “battery energy storage” facility on Wearside are due to go before councillors for decision next week. Sunderland City Council’s Planning and Highways Committee will vote on an application for a parcel of agricultural land near the A19 and the ‘National Grid Offerton Substation’. Those behind the scheme said battery energy storage systems were a “subset of renewable low carbon forms of energy generation” and a “fundamental aspect of the UK moving towards net zero”.

    Plans to convert a residential property into a specialist care hub for children and young people with “complex needs” have been submitted to council development bosses. Sunderland City Council’s planning department has received an application for a property referred to as ‘The White House’ at Hylton Bridge Farm in the city’s Washington North ward. The wider application site, which sits off Downhill Lane near industrial units and the Nissan plant, includes a number of residential properties.
