Sunderland Echo
The Sunderland Echo is a daily publication that caters to the communities of Sunderland, South Tyneside, and East Durham in North East England. Established in 1873 by a group that included Samuel Storey, Edward Backhouse, Edward Temperley Gourley, Charles Palmer, Richard Ruddock, Thomas Glaholm, and Thomas Scott Turnbull, it was originally named the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette. The newspaper was created to express the Radical perspectives of its founders and holds the distinction of being Sunderland's first local daily newspaper.
