    FERGUS – Police are looking for help to identify the man responsible for lewd conduct involving a child in a bathroom at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. The incident occurred at around noon on March 14, during March Break. “An unknown suspect attended a facility located on Belsyde Avenue East … and entered the men’s bathroom,” stated a March 26 press release from the Wellington County OPP. “While inside, a young child noticed suspicious behaviour and notified an employee.

    FERGUS – A pedestrian remains in life-threatening condition after being hit by a transport truck at a busy Fergus intersection on Wednesday evening. Emergency crews responded to the scene, at the corner of Belsyde Avenue and Tower Street South (Highway 6), on March 5 at about 5:30pm. Wellington COunty OPP officials say a pedestrian was “struck at the intersection by a tractor-trailer.”“The pedestrian is still at a trauma centre being assessed,” police stated the next morning.

    MAPLETON – About 40 cows died in a Sunday morning fire that destroyed a barn near Alma. Firefighters were called to the blaze, near the intersection of 14th Line and Sideroad 17 in Mapleton Township, just before 9am on Dec. 29. “On arrival the barn was fully involved,” stated deputy fire chief Callise Loos in a press release.

    ERIN – Nine days after announcing a “brand refresh” for the Town of Erin, municipal officials unveiled a new town logo. And within hours of the unveiling of the new logo, many residents voiced their distaste for it, with dozens already signing a petition to have it scrapped. Town officials presented the new logo in a social media post just before 7am on Sept. 13 and in a press release issued about four hours later.
