When I first bought my own KitchenAid stand mixer after college, my apartment finally felt like a place where an adult lived. My affection for this stand mixer cannot be overstated, so naturally my ears perked up when KitchenAid announced it was revamping its espresso machine range. There are three new fully automatic espresso machines: the KF8, KF7 and KF6.

Each roast is made slightly differently, but the longer they sizzle, the darker they become. There are other variables like roaster temperature, but for our purposes we’ll stick with the basics. Every second your beans are in the roaster, they change. Their aromas, their taste, their color profile.

The arrival of the total solar eclipse in the US also brought with it an impressive array of photos. If you couldn’t find a place to watch the eclipse in person — or it was stuck behind uncooperative clouds — you can at least get a sense of its size through these photos taken at various points in its journey. The path of totality began in Mexico on Monday morning and worked its way up through Texas by early afternoon.
