The Saints are down to one unsigned draft pick. They announced that defensive tackle Vernon Broughton signed his four-year rookie deal on Tuesday. Broughton was one of the team’s two third-round picks and his signing leaves second-round quarterback Tyler Shough as the only unsigned selection. Broughton had 39 tackles, four sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries for Texas last season. He played 56 games overall for the Longhorns.

The Chargers made a couple of changes to their defense on Tuesday. They announced that they have signed linebacker Kana’i Mauga to their 90-man roster. They waived linebacker Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste in a corresponding move. Mauga appeared in 17 games for the Raiders over the last two seasons. Almost all of his playing time came on special teams and he was credited with six tackles in those appearances.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams will have a new number for the 2025 season and one of his coaches is predicting new heights for him on the field as well. Offensive coordinator John Morton spoke to reporters on Tuesday and said that the 2022 first-round pick has had an “unbelievable” offseason. That effort has Morton predicting even bigger things from a player who had 58 catches for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

The Jets appear to be making a change at punter. In a post to his Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon, Thomas Morstead said that he was just informed by the Jets that they are releasing him and the team made it official a short time later. Morstead was set to have a cap number of a little more than $3 million and the Jets will clear more than $2.5 million in cap space by cutting him loose. Morstead spent the last two seasons with the Jets and also played for the team in 2021.
