This is the perfect thing for photographers who don’t want a new camera. Here’s a little-known fact: the warranty of your camera or lens doesn’t necessarily cover what happens to it in case of dust, inclement weather, etc. That’s why we created the Photography Care Program, in collaboration with Full Frame Insurance. Dust affects your camera and lens performance more than you think, and unless you’re constantly cleaning the lens contacts, your autofocus performance could end up pretty wonky.

For a period of a few years, the lens and camera manufacturers were drunk on the idea of even smoother bokeh than normal. It was so much so that it ended up cutting down the amount of light a lens output. Some folks call it a smooth transition lens while others refer to the specific optic in the lens as something along the lines of “DS.” And for a while, it seemed like every camera manufacturer had a lens like this. But then smooth transition focus lenses of all sorts all disappeared. Why?

I’m writing this article knowing fully well that Ricoh might not take too kindly to it. In fact, brands in general have often not given the Phoblographer a product because they know that they can control YouTubers a whole lot better. I needed to say that — and I will always stick to it. With that out in the air, I’m going to say what I think so many people need to be saying about the upcoming Ricoh GRIV. Ricoh: you need to weather seal the damn camera already.

It’s a question that it seems everyone is trying to gatekeep the answer to — and everyone thinks that they’re right. What is street photography? The genre has been around for many, many years and is often attributed to the founders of Magnum Photos in some ways. While at times, it’s also attributed to great photographers like Gordon Parks. Ultimately, it seems to convey a documentary format, as the origins are with variants of photojournalism. But how it’s defined is really, really odd.
