    PALMYRA — The Western Albemarle girls soccer team entered the VHSL Class 3 state championship game with redemption on their minds. The Warriors had fallen short in the state final in 2023 and 2024, and had great desire to get over the edge this season. “We’ve been wanting this for so long. We’ve made it so close two years in a row,” senior midfielder Emily Schinstock said.

    PALMYRA — The Western Albemarle boys soccer team reached its second consecutive state championship game with a 3-1 victory over William Monroe on Friday, and is also playing in its third final in four years. Much of the Warriors roster has already embarked on a deep postseason run, which has prepared them for the emotions and challenges that come with it. “It just helps you out a ton,” senior Daniel Sanchez said.

    In the Charlottesville boys tennis team’s transformation that has resulted in two consecutive state titles, sophomore Sean Frank has been at the forefront. Frank immediately earned the No. 1 singles spot in the Black Knights’ lineup in his first year, and has won singles and doubles matches in both state title matches Charlotesville has played since he has been there.
