The Daily Progress
The Daily Progress is the only daily newspaper serving the Charlottesville, Virginia area. It has been in circulation every day since September 14, 1892. The newspaper was established by James Hubert Lindsay and his brother Frank Lindsay. Initially, The Progress was released six days a week, with its first Sunday edition appearing in September 1968. The Lindsay family owned the paper for 78 years before selling it. On November 30, 1970, they announced the sale to the Worrell Newspaper group, which officially took over operations on January 1, 1971.

For years, he’d been searching unsuccessfully for the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, the “boy king,” who died as a teenager. His patron, George Herbert, the fifth Earl of Carnarvon, and an avid collector of Egyptian antiquities, told Carter he was cutting off his funding after the season.
