On the most recent episode of the BBC‘s flagship political debate show Question Time, Reform UK MP Richard Tice went head to head with the general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU) Jo Grady. The show – broadcast from Hull – saw a fiery exchange between the two panellists over the aftermath of Reform’s recent local election successes in which Grady laid into the party’s political platform.

The prime minister Keir Starmer and chancellor Rachel Reeves are coming under increasing pressure to abandon their planned cuts to disability benefits. The cuts will see a tightening of criteria for Personal Independence Payments which will see many people who would receive a daily living payment become ineligible for this. The cuts, announced earlier this year, are to hit 700,000 people already in poverty, and push around 250,000 people below the poverty line.

A bombshell new opinion poll has suggested that Labour could be on track to be ousted from the Welsh Government, with Plaid Cymru set to be the main beneficiaries. Despite having been in government following every election since Welsh devolution was introduced in 1999, the poll puts Labour currently in third place behind both Plaid Cymru and Reform UK.

Carla Denyer, one of the two current co-leaders of the Green Party of England and Wales has confirmed she won’t be re-standing for the role in this year’s leadership election. Denyer has said the reason for her decision is that she wants dedicate more time to her new role as the MP for Bristol Central. Denyer was elected as co-leader of the Green Party in 2021 alongside Adrian Ramsay.
