Mark Blinch. Getty Images. SOURCE - The big off-field news this week in Major League Baseball was the 14-year, $500 million extension Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has signed with the Blue Jays. The deal was officially announced by the Jays, meaning every hurdle has been cleared and Vlad Jr. is locked up for, presumably, the rest of his career.

Victor Chavez. Shutterstock Images. It took a few months but we finally have our first blockbuster movie of 2025: A Minecraft Movie. It will pass Captain America: Brave New World as the #1 movie of the year by Friday. It's also one of the best movies I saw last week in what was a bucket of shit at the theaters. A Minecraft Movie has no interest in being taken seriously. It's a stupid movie that knows it is stupid. Having said that, that is an easier way out than actually making something good.

Maddie Malhotra/Boston Red Sox. Getty Images. This is an epic extension for a player who could be very, very good. Kristian Campbell dominated in college, had a .327/.439/.558 in the minor leagues and is starting everyday for the Red Sox right now at 23. He's considered a Top-10 prospect by just about every major publication. If you go online and take a look at the reaction to this signing, it's a lot of people shitting on Campbell for taking what they consider to be a low offer.

Nina Westervelt. Getty Images. This has been an especially bizarre week at the theater. I've seen a unicorn die, Jason Stratham beat the shit out of dozens of men, Robert De Niro played two parts in the same movie and somehow two movies about The Last Supper came out. Death Of A Unicorn is a creative movie that takes some big swings. Not all of them land and the third act is too long. But, isn't that what we want in a movie? To take chances and give us something unique?

Getty Images. Today is Opening Day. Other than family, pets and select friends, I love baseball more than anything in the world. I look forward to this day from the second the last out is made in the World Series. Everything Opening Day represents is perfect: hope and optimism, summer on the horizon and that daily dependable thing we have to enjoy until the beginning of November. Opening Day can be enjoyed by even the most casual of baseball fans.
