The start of June is particularly noteworthy for Bill Belichick this year. On Sunday, Belichick’s buyout at North Carolina drops from $10 million to $1 million. Likely worried about the potential for Belichick bolting to the NFL when they singed the deal back in December, the school put the June 1 clause in his contract. After Sunday, Belichick can leave North Carolina at any time for just $1 million. That’s not a two-way street, however.

As the Bruins narrow their coaching search, two finalists have been revealed by The Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa. Former Bruins forward (and current Ontario Reign coach) Marco Sturm and Capitals assistant Mitch Love have both moved to an in-person interview stage, while Shinzawa reports other finalists are unknown at this time. Sturm, Boston’s hero in the 2010 Winter Classic, has been in the Kings organization since 2018.

A training camp holdout was beneficial for the young Bruins goalie’s bank account — he eventually landed an 8-year, $66 million deal — but hindered his play on the ice.
