The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts will be hosting its 25th Annual Walkathon Anniversary Celebration, “A Journey of Hope and Recovery” on Sunday, May 18 at Stanley Park’s Beveridge Pavilion Annex in Westfield, 400 Western Ave. The walkathon begins at 11 a.m. with registration starting at 10 a.m.The event is open to all ages and abilities.

NORTHAMPTON — The Forbes Library Board of Trustees will see four of its seven seats on the ballot this November and representatives within the library are urging interested members of the public to consider running to join the governing body of the library. Trustees are responsible for the hiring and evaluation of the director and the oversight of the library budget and policies. As an example, Forbes Library eliminated fines after trustees voted on and approved a new policy a few years back.
Springfield City Council approves ratified contract between police and city

SPRINGFIELD — A newly ratified contract between the city of Springfield and its just under 500 police officers was officially approved by the City Council during its April 28 hearings meeting. According to the city, police officers have been without a contract for 10 months. The agreement, which runs for the period between July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2028, includes wage increases of 3.5% in each of the four years.

Place 2 Be principal owner Gina Lauri said the restaurant hoped to come to a new lease agreement with its landlords at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame by early April, but a deal has yet to come to fruition.
