Detroit — Jack Flaherty’s first start was against the Dodgers in his hometown Los Angeles, against his former teammates on the day they got their World Series rings. Which he helped them win. His second start was the home opener at Comerica Park. Manager AJ Hinch promised him just a normal workday start for his third one. Except, there was nothing normal about it. It was against the Yankees, which alone brings a rush of adrenaline.
