Williams has announced James Vowles has signed a new long-term contract to remain in his role as team principal. Vowles joined Williams at the start of the 2023 season from Mercedes and has helped develop the team under the ownership of Dorilton Capital to become a consistent midfield runner. Currently sitting fifth in the standings but with a target of returning Williams to the sharp end of the grid and fight for wins and championships in future, Vowles has now committed long-term.

South Africa's Kyalami circuit has had improvement works approved by the FIA that would grant the venue Grade 1 status, allowing it to host Formula 1 races in future. The circuit is currently FIA Grade 2, meaning it doesn’t hold the required license for an F1 track, but it submitted plans for upgrades that would bring it up to the required standard. The FIA has now approved those designs, giving Kyalami three years to complete the work in order to achieve Grade 1 status.

Mercedes enjoyed a strong weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, with George Russell taking pole position and keeping Max Verstappen at bay to win, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli moving up from fourth on the grid to finish third. While he’s had a pole position in a Sprint event before, it’s the first time Antonelli has been on the podium in his rookie season and he says it makes him hungry for more. “It was much better than what I imagined,” Antonelli said.

Red Bull Racing asked FIA race director Rui Marques to look out for any gamesmanship from drivers towards Max Verstappen prior to the Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen went into the race just one penalty point away from an automatic suspension, following his collision with George Russell in Spain.
