Minnesota health officials worry measles could be spreading in communities undetected, with two new cases announced this week bringing the state's total to four. The Minnesota Department of Health said in a June 2 news release that it recently confirmed unrelated cases in an adult in Washington County and a child in Dakota County. The adult was exposed during domestic air travel outside Minnesota. The child, though, hasn't left the state in the past month and had no known exposures.

Feeding South Dakota, the state's largest hunger relief organization, says it will provide 1.8 million fewer meals over the next fiscal year, which begins July 1, unless it can replace $2.6 million lost due to federal cuts. The nonprofit, which distributes food to all 66 counties in South Dakota, relies on donations of money and food and support from federal programs. It provided across the state during the 2024 fiscal year.
