AMBRIDGE ― A former Beaver County resident has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for the possession of child sex abuse materials. According to the Department of Justice, 43-year-old Bradley Schrott, formerly of Ambridge, was sentenced to 132 months and one day of imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to possession of a video depicting the sexual exploitation of a prepubescent minor earlier this year. After his release, Schrott will remain under supervised release for 10 years.

The Aliquippa School Board voted to not renew head basketball coach Nick Lackovich's contract, despite three consecutive WPIAL championship appearances and three state championship berths. The school board will hold a meeting on June 2 to discuss filling the coaching vacancy. The PIAA baseball playoffs begin June 2 and culminate in championship games June 12-13. Championship games will be held at Penn State University's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Several Beaver Valley teams, including Freedom Area, OLSH, Riverside, Quaker Valley and Central Valley, qualified for the state tournament. It was a successful WPIAL postseason for several Beaver Valley baseball squads, with two claiming WPIAL championships in the process.
