The two men on trial for felling the Sycamore Gap cut the famous tree down with a chainsaw while filming themselves on a 'moronic mission', a court has heard. The opening of the trial of Daniel Graham, 39, from Milbeck Stables, Carlisle, and Adam Carruthers, 32, from Church Street, Wigton, Cumbria, began on Tuesday at Newcastle Crown Court. They are jointly charged with causing £622,191 of criminal damage to the beloved Northumberland tree.
