Met Office map shows 24-hour rain warning with flooding and Easter travel delays

Forecasters have warned of potential flooding of homes and travel disruption after the Met Office issued a 24-hour yellow weather warning covering a significant portion of the UK. The warning, running from 12pm on Tuesday to midday Wednesday, stretches from the southern tip of the Cornish coast, covers all of Wales and affects some parts of the West Country, the West Midlands and the North West.

A boy, aged 17, and a man, aged 46, were swept out to sea on Sunday near the small town of Seventeen Seventy, in central Queensland, on Sunday. They were declared dead at the scene after their bodies were recovered from the water by rescuers, the BBC reports.

Tommy Robinson's challenge against his 18-month sentence for contempt of court will be heard at the Court of Appeal on Friday. He was jailed in October after admitting contempt of court by repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, in breach of an injunction. The far-right activist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, admitted 10 breaches of a High Court order made in 2021 at the start of a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court.
