Oct. 21—You know it was a bad night for the New York Jets when a female fan sprinting down the field is a highlight on the sports pages of New York media. The Jets, led by future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, didn't have the best of nights against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A couple of ill-timed interceptions by Rodgers, a strong performance from Russell Wilson for the Black and Gold, and some special teams magic resulted in the Steelers picking up their fifth victory of the season.

The Black Keys will bring their International Players Tour to Pittsburgh for an October show at PPG Paints Arena. The duo of guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney are set to play the venue Oct. 10 as part of their 31-date North American venture to promote their new album, “Ohio Players,” set for release on Friday. The pair formed in 2001 in Akron, Ohio. The Head and The Heart will serve as the opening act. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday for American Express members.

What does it matter that Hollywood is 2,436 miles from Pittsburgh? The city’s link to the big screen is always close by. The latest round of Oscar nominations were unveiled Tuesday, and — sure enough — we’ve managed to find some Pittsburgh connections. Of course we did. The first and most direct link would be Netflix’s Pittsburgh-filmed “Rustin,” which garnered a nod for Colman Domingo as best actor.
Fruit Stripe Gum is no more

Another gum bites the dust. After 54 years, Fruit Strip Gum’s run is over. Ferrara Candy Co. has officially discontinued the striped sticks that came wrapped in a temporary tattoo of the brand’s mascot: Yipes the Zebra. “We have made the difficult decision to sunset Fruit Stripe Gum, but consumers may still be able to find the product at select retailers nationwide,” the company said in a statement. Each gum pack contained five flavors: Cherry, Lemon, Orange, Wet n’ Wild Melon and Peach Smash.
