Brownsville residents affected by last week’s flooding may be eligible for help from the state, depending upon how severely their homes were damaged. “The borough and myself are trying to do as much as we can for the residents,” said Jordan Sealy, the emergency management coordinator in the borough. “It’s a tough situation, but we’ll get through it.”Sealey said the hardest hit area was Water Street, where a survey from the borough’s fire department found that 23 homes were flooded.

The Fayette County Election Board certified November’s general election this week. Marybeth Kuznik, director of the election bureau, said the results were certified on Nov. 27, and there were no changes to any of the races. “It went very smooth, everything added up and everything matched,” Kuznik said, adding that the county also performed the required 2% audit on the results with no issues.

A popular holiday house tour that invites guests into beautifully decorated homes and businesses in Fayette County is back this year to raise money for two local nonprofits. The Season’s Greetings Holiday Tour — formerly known as Homes for the Holidays — returned after a decade last year. It was so well-attended, organizers said, that they added a second day to this year’s tour.
