For the second year straight, a North Elementary School fifth-grade team took home the trophy at the annual “Battle of the Books” challenge. Prior to the pair of Bears wins over the past two years, Matthew Thornton had a three-year reign in the number one spot. Each year, the three Londonderry Elementary Schools send teams of fifth-graders to represent their school at the annual battle, hosted by the Middle School.

The Londonderry High School Athletics Department held its annual National Letter of Intent Signing Day at the school recently with three student athletes announcing their future plans. Senior Lancer Runner, Sayde White, pictured at left, will be headed to St. Anselm’s College in neighboring Manchester where she will continue her Cross-Country and Track career while receiving her degree.

The Londonderry Middle School Drama Club preformed Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. over the past weekend with shows on Friday and Saturday. It was directed and Choreographed by Jennifer Maurice with music directed by Amanda Morgan. The part of Alice was played by students Evelyn Murray, Kendall Cornwell and Maeve Nahlik, Kellen Johnson played the White Rabbit and Avalynne Smith played the Queen of Hearts.

The season ended last week for the Londonderry High School Girls’ basketball team with a trip to the University of New Hampshire where they played in the finals of the Division I State Championship. Though the Lancers didn’t come away with a state title, losing to the defending champion Bedford Bulldogs, a number of the players were selected to the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization’s (NHBCO) All-State teams.

Families flocked to Londonderry’s local Sugar House at Peterson’s Farm during Maple Weekend held on Saturday and Sunday March 15 and 16. The farm had plenty of maple products for sale and to sample at the annual event. This year’s season was exceptionally short, with freezing temperatures lasting well past February, leaving just over two weeks for maple trees to produce enough sap for maple syrup.

The Londonderry High School Winter Cheerleading team finished its season last weekend with a sixth place finish in the New England Regional Championship. The 2025 New England Interscholastic Spirit Championships were held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Worcester State University in Worcester, Mass where the Lancers were able to score a 172.1, that was good for sixth. Coincidentally, the Worcester State Mascot is alos a Lancer.

About 50 drama club students at South School have been rehearsing and making sets since November for this year’s play “Finding Nemo Jr.”Lead roles are being played by Gavin Hunt (Nemo) JP Aiken (Marlin) and Abigail Johnson (Dory). Show times are: Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m., the public is invited and tickets are $5 a person with a $20 household cap. This year, students helped with everything that went into creating the show.
