In November of 2013, my friend Iman walked me to my car after a business meeting, I noticed the Mercedes in his parking lot. There was a solid wall of spider webs from the bottom of the car to the asphalt, the front seats were shredded from the sun, and the finish was peeling from the wood trim. The license plate read AMINT6.3; it was anything but. He told me he was saving the car for his son Kian, who tragically passed from leukemia at 13. It had not moved in the five years since.

If it was cool enough for the Beastie Boys, it was cool enough for me.

You can mention tariff news and how it might affect your habits or the wider watch industry. Arguably everything is political. But the actual discussion has to revolve around watches.
New Rolex Calibre 7135

#1 · While everyone is salivating (or not) over the new models that Rolex just released like the Land-Dweller, what caught my eye is the new Calibre 7135 movement that apparently runs at 5Hz. I do not recall Rolex ever releasing a Hi-Beat movement before or why they decided it necessary this time. According to what I've read Rolex applied for 16 patents and the movement is somewhat thinner than previous movements.

I like the weight, thickness, bracelet, wearability, colorway, movement, etc. I wear it about once a week. Less than my Mido or Ball, more than my Seikos or Aragon’s. I've been lucky enough to have these four beauties in my life at one point. It's a long story but I can only have one for now. Leaning towards the a3817 because the tri color dial is what I love most about Zenith. At some future date I hope to reunite with either the IWC or the Rolex. Torn between the vintage charm and silky bracelet of the Mark XII and the mesmerizing blue dial of the Rolex I love the most.( 16710 Coke is second and modern 36mm DJ with fluted bezel and jubilee is third if you care)
Any Recommendations for This Dial?

I inherited this mid-90's Rolex Day-Date (President) from my late father and I'm curious if the dial can be saved. I really have no idea what may have caused the damage (moisture or heat or both?) but it doesn't look nearly this bad on the wrist. Do you think that Rodico putty will help or what should be done? The little specs appear concerning. Otherwise, the watch seems to be running rather well.

I'm assuming I missed some threads on the closing of Bucherer last month by Rolex? Sad to see them go. "It’s the end of an era, as Carl F. Bucherer (CFB) is to be discontinued, reports Swiss business publication Bilanz. The decision comes in the wake of Rolex’s landmark acquisition of Bucherer, announced in August 2023, which represented one of the most significant shifts in luxury watch retail in recent decades.
