The Irishman doesn’t quite go along with the fearless pundit but wanted to make one thing crystal clearBrendan Rodgers' gift of the gab would get him a gig in most industries but he might struggle selling sofas for DFS. Not when his pet peeve is anyone around him or his club daring to get comfortable. It was an accusation levelled at his players in Perth last week after they stumbled to a third defeat in six Premiership games to deny fans a potential home title party against Kilmarnock today.

It's perhaps understandable the Celtic squad think the league is in the bag and they can take their foot off the gas – because the people running the club have done exactly the same. I said it at the time and it’s even more clear now. The decision to sell Kyogo in January and failure to recruit a replacement just smacked of complacency. The message was that they wanted another striker but, ah well, it wasn’t to be.

It was a bold statement. Daizen Maeda was asked how he’d follow up his double against Hearts that took his tally to 30 goals for the season and he said he’d score a hat trick this weekend. He was probably being a bit tongue in cheek but it was a measure of his confidence right now. And a sign of his value to this Celtic team. Maeda has been outstanding. He’s having one of those special seasons you get from time to time and hitting the 30 mark is no mean feat.

The interim boss could barely hide his frustrations but his fellow Record Sport pundit wasn't buying itMiffed Chris Sutton has raised serious doubts Barry Ferguson has cracked anything at Rangers after their pulsating 4-3 comeback away to Dundee. The interim boss could barely hide his frustrations despite the stunning victory after trailing 3-1 midway through the second half and insisted he knows what went on for long spells in the City of Discovery.

There are some people who will say it must be one of the easiest jobs in the game being Celtic goalkeeper. I actually think it’s one of the toughest. There are matches in Scotland where the man between the posts only gets called on two or three times in 90 minutes. Yet they better make sure they are 100 percent spot on with every time, otherwise the scrutiny is huge. The slightest slip up can have massive consequences, so it takes a mentality and level of concentration you don’t see everywhere.
