Most people can be forgiven for drifting off in the second half of last weekend’s Rangers v Celtic clash at Ibrox. Let’s be brutally honest. It was a bit of a non event. I said going in it was a dead rubber derby but both sides did their best to prove me right. It got to a point when neither team fancied a bloodbath so settled for honours even to park the hostilities until next season.

Brendan Rodgers is 200 per cent going to be at Celtic next season. I know this because he stood six feet away from me on the Tannadice pitch and said so during a post-match television interview. But beyond that? Well here’s the interesting thing. The Rangers fans are getting excited about the investment coming from the USA.

Title number 55 was sealed in emphatic fashion. Long before the last pieces of ticker-tape had blown off the pitch at Tannadice, the attention of Brendan Rodgers will have already swirled towards No.56. This summer is enormous in terms of making more strides forward and finding new ways to improve and keep the drive and hunger within the unit. Yet, to look forward, sometimes you have to look back, so the best place to eye the future is by what’s happening in the present.

Celtic can put the final seal on their title charge at Tannadice. I’ve got to say, some of the comments leading into their potentially-clinching contest against Dundee United and some feelings attached to their imminent success has been, quite frankly, ludicrous. Brendan Rodgers and his players have been excellent for the majority of the season and any bid to decry or undermine their work is just nonsensical. The run-in has been dull.

It has surprised me to see Ollie Watkins fall down the pecking order, even understanding the threat Marcus Rashford carries. Watkins is a better all-round centre forward who has more strings to his bow than Rashford does. But it’s the way Unai Emery sees Rashford as the right fit, that pace in behind type striker, that means he is selecting him.

Arsenal unlucky tonight to meet Donnarumma in that form. Still feel like they are moving in the right direction but definitely a centre forward short this season. That’s poor planning and only have themselves to blame. Amazing to think Spurs can be more successful this season…

My @pinkun column on Norwich City’s manager hunt and why Ben Knapper needs to stop dithering and get on with making a decision plus Angus Gunn’s departure and the appalling disrespect the club showed to him and his family. He deserved better… your thoughts?
