Meir Heath picked up their first NSSCL Division Two success of the season by winning at Norton in Hales seconds. It had been a testing start for Meir Heath as they suffered four straight defeats to commence their summer schedule. However, they finally had something to cheer as they banked a six-wicket win at the weekend. It was far from straightforward, though, as the prospect of another defeat loomed large in their run chase.

Deepak Dhapola claimed a six-wicket haul as Checkley crushed Meakins in their NSSCL Premier A meeting. It had been an indifferent start for both sides heading into Saturday’s encounter at Ivy House Road. But it was visitors Checkley who were left with the feel-good factor after Dhapola ran riot in Meakins’ innings. The home side were set 248 to win from their 45 overs, but folded to 53 all out in just 20.4 as Dhapola captured 6-23.

Wood Lane captain Danny Brierley wants his side to remain part of the NSSCL Premier B promotion conversation as the season unfolds. Brierley has masterminded an unblemished start to the 2025 campaign with four successive wins in the win/lose format to leave them setting the early pace in the division. The former Staffordshire batsman is experienced enough to realise that there’s a heck of a long way to go before any honours are dished out.

Vijayan Rahul delivered some late-innings batting heroics to guide Audlem to a thrilling one-wicket success against Burslem seconds in NSSCL Division Four. Audlem were on the brink of defeat as they slipped to 177-9 in pursuit of their victory target of 198, despite Ben Salisbury’s 33, 26 from David Parkinson and 21 from Chris Shenton. However, Rahul and last man Simon Swift refused to throw in the towel, which set up a nervy conclusion.
