A week is a long time in football - and new Stoke City signing Favour Fawunmi is proof of that. Fawunmi had been on the radar of Stoke’s academy scouts in the summer but ended up staying at West Ham until the end of January, when they were able to pounce and get him up to Clayton Wood for a trial game in front of first-team boss Mark Robins and sporting director Jon Walters.

Meakins have started their winter recruitment programme by adding two new faces to their squad. The Ivy House Road side have signed all-rounder Ash Shaw and young seamer Amaan Tariq for the 2025 North Staffs and South Cheshire League Premier A season. Shaw makes the move from Burslem, where he spent five seasons, scoring 2,119 runs and taking 123 wickets with his left-arm seam. He had previously played for Audley and Alsager.
