Black Mountain — (WLOS) At one point making state was a goal the Owen tennis doubles team of Rafael Kohn and Blake Bradley were chasing. That was before they did it back-to-back years. Now the Warhorses seniors are preparing for their third and final run at a 2A individual tournament title. "Being at state first of all is just a major accomplishment," Kohn pointed out.

Skyland — (WLOS) North Carolina has seen some great baseball players and teams hoist a state championship trophy over the years. The states largest classification, 4A, was created in 1960 and only three teams since then have won back-to-back state titles. The latest is the T.C. Greensboro — (WLOS) Nine people sat on the stage in the small auditorium at the Greensboro History Museum, each beaming with pride and maybe outlined with a few nerves as they prepared to accept one of the highest honors an athlete in North Carolina can receive. They were the class of 2025 for the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, and just judging from looks you would have guessed as much.

Franklin — (WLOS) The lineage of Franklin Panthers softball is filled with some of the greatest athletes Western North Carolina has produced. Just in the past few years the school has sent players to power four programs like LSU (McKenzie Redoutey) and NC State (Taylor and Tori Ensley).
